Not only it’s boring and time consuming, it’s also a huge waste of water. That’s why Harold McGee, author of Keys to Good Cooking: A Guide to Making the Best of Foods and Recipes, decided to share his genius secret about cooking pasta.
Next time when you cook pasta, instead of a huge pot filled with water try using a small pan. Add one and a half quarts of cold water to your pasta, and then cook at medium high heat. Since the water is cold pasta shouldn’t stick and once it’s one you can use the remaining water to make a great sauce.
This seems so obvious now.
